Define

For my Undergraduate Thesis, at the University of San Diego, I chose to create a series of books that aim to separate words from their appropriated meanings. The words that are being deconstructed are often used to define who and what we are.

These three books are meant to deconstruct how we define ourselves physically.

My books on physicality are mainly a testament to how I see myself and what I have witnessed others seeing in themselves. These books are meant to encapsulate how we understand our bodies. Skin tone is a color, body shape is just a form and gender is a construct.

This pair of books are representative of how we dissect our personalities.

After we visually assess ourselves we can cut a layer deeper and look at our personality. Our personality is something that has been broken down as well. Our bodies have been broken down into their parts and so have our personalities. I have examined our personalities through a book on Myers-Briggs and one on astrology. They emulate different ideas. One is how our personalities are broken up and the other being how they are determined.

This last book explores how we project our identities in social environments.

My last category is that of projection. After I have looked in the mirror and analyzed my physical form, and assessed my personality I can label myself based on what I show people. This category has one book in it. This book demonstrates our lives through our performance of self. I have used social media as the platform for how we demonstrate our definitions. It is known as projection because it has to do with how we interact with one another and the attention we give our image.
